We are pleased to announce the request for proposals to the 2024 Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Innovator Grants Program. The Innovator Grants Program is designed to promote research and collaborative scholarly projects advancing the academic interests of our faculty and the strategic themes of the Department. Projects across the full spectrum of science and scholarship are encouraged.

Launched in the summer of 2023, RAISE Health (Responsible AI for Safe and Equitable Health) is a joint initiative between Stanford Medicine and the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) to guide the responsible use of AI across biomedical research, education, and patient care. RAISE Health was established to serve as a go-to platform for AI resources and insights, share frameworks for ethical AI development and use, and convene multidisciplinary innovators, experts, and stakeholder groups to solve the field’s most pressing challenges.

Description: Applications are considered yearly for two-year Special Fellowship training programs for MDs and PhDs in Advanced Neuroimaging, Neuroscience, Mental Health and Neuroscience, and Complementary and Alternative Medicine. These fellowships are sponsored by the Office of Academic Affiliations, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Fellowship site is part of the VA Palo Alto War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (CA WRIISC) and are affiliated with Stanford University. Fellows will develop and conduct a research project, publish and present findings, participate in grant writing, and utilize the latest technologies for research, educational activities, and clinical service delivery.

Description: The National Center for PTSD Dissemination & Training Division postdoctoral fellowship program is a 2-year program sponsored by the Office of Academic Affiliations, VA, and provides an academic affiliation with the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Description: The fellowship provides unique preparation for future leaders in health care by providing hands-on mentored educational experiences to develop skills in specific clinical areas and more broadly for health care system and health care education system transformation through policy, system redesign and research. Through creative partnerships, use of new technology and innovative educational modalities, this fellowship promotes and fosters the highest standards of leadership, intellectual integrity, research and patient care.

Description: This clinical research training program funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (T32MH019938: A Biobehavioral Research Training Program) is designed for those who plan to pursue careers in clinical research with a specialization in adult disorders including mood, anxiety, eating disorders, and related areas such as insomnia. These are two-year positions contingent upon funding. The aim of this program is to help clinically trained MD and PhD fellows develop skills and experience in research to enable their own investigative careers. Research in the program is conducted under the direction of faculty mentors. The core aspect of the program is the mentoring relationship that will eventually enable an independent program of research. The training program offers didactic courses to promote research and professional development and encourages a small load of clinical responsibility that informs research.

Description: The goal of the one-year fellowship is to train and develop the digital health technology leaders of tomorrow. The training program will include an individualized development plan including mentorship, didactics, mentored research, and hands-on experiences with digital health product development, clinical trial design and execution, health system digital health operations, and engagement with industry partners. The program will integrate elements from Stanford's diverse set of opportunities in digital health, informatics, and AI across the university and health system, and offer the ability to audit academic courses offered by Stanford University. A high level of academic output is expected during this full-time fellowship.
